This picture really touches my heart,because my dad and my uncle were both veterans and have passed on. I know that their sacrifices have made my life,my children’s life, and now my grandchild’s life better. Great picture!

Finalist #1–Amy
Her photo shows a degree of sacrificial honor that appeals to me. The neutral colors — brown, beige, black, off-white –give the photo a somber & sober tone. The camera angle makes the markers look like an endless theatre, as though it’s a reminder that everyone dies, so be thankful for LIFE (as though Life speaks by way of contrast, i.e., death). With this being a nat’l cemetery taken July 4, the photo reveals an appreciation for the sacrifices of those serving for our nation’s protection. There’s depth here; there’s expansion; there’s a reverent silence. Quite good!

I loved #1 because I am proud to be an American and to meditate & pray for those wonderful & brave men/women that died for this country & those still serving today so that we can sleep safely in our beds at night. God bless America & our great military. I felt pride looking at the photo.
