One of the craziest things we saw in Cambodia was the whole Fish Massage scene. Imagine a big tank of water sitting in the middle of the street, not even a tank sometimes but the inflatable pool your kids had in the backyard last summer, and then hundreds of fish swimming around waiting for someone to stick their hands or feet in. A friend said Fish Massages are now big in NY with the upscale spa centers costing hundreds of dollars per hour. Well friends, in the overwhelming heat of Cambodia’s night scene, you can not only find a way to cool off your feet but have your skin cleaned up too!
The fish will nibble away at all your dead skin cells at $3 for 20 minutes. And when all the dead skin cells are gone, they swim away. ![]()
I have to admit, Fish Massage isn’t my thing. It doesn’t sound appealing to me. But Pascaline went crazy over it! If it was up to her, she would have put her whole body in! She said the feeling of all those wiggly, tiny mouths sucking on her fingers was the BEST feeling in the world.
What do you think? Does it sound appealing to you? Can you imagine the summer festivals having big tanks of cleaner fish this year, selling Fish Massages?
This was one of my favorite signs!
“Just try it now!”
If my dear friend John Louviere is reading this post today…Do you feel any kind of threat from the Fish Massage idea being a Massage Therapist yourself? ![]()
Today is also the last day to get the Early Bird Registration price for the Seattle Spring CONFIDENCE Photography Wkshp in May! There have been new sign ups from the weekend, and we are so excited to meet all of you!! To register before tonight’s cut off, CLICK HERE!

p.s. Linda Baylis has her Photography Assignment posted on the SOAR! blog today. I guarantee those photos will teach you a lot more about photography then my Fish Massage photos did today. (It’s okay to throw in the goofy stuff like this too, right?!

uh…..no thank you.
Ditto what Jeramy said. I don’t even like to swim in the lake because of the fish.
Oooo. I always thought it looked neat. We saw this on one of the travel shows at some point. Glad Pascaline enjoyed it.
I LOVE the goofy stuff! Will pass on the fish massage though
Um. Well. That’s just gross. But in a good way.
No thank you! I can’t even touch my own feet because I am SOOO ticklish!
I have totally read about this and thought it was so cool. It is really BIG on the east coast and cannot wait for it to happen out on the west coast so I can just try it once.
okay, I’m pretty adventurous but this is kind of an ewwwww. and i’m getting facial on thursday. now I’m worried….
Okay, that’s a little different and I bet it really tickles. And yes! The goofy stuff is cool too. Made me smile and I am grateful for that today.
I can’t say I’d call it appealing, but I’ve always wanted to try it anyway lol
It makes me squirm just thinking about how tickelish that would be. Not sure I could handle that!;)
Sounds a bit creepy. I saw it on t.v. last year. they said they weren’t sure they could use them in salons, because it would be hard to sanitize the pools after each person. But whatever floats your boat, I guess. =)
There are some of those fish at one of the aquarium museums here in St. Louis. It was the weirdest feeling to have them nibble at your skin. I had to force myself to keep my finger in the water and not think about piranhas!
I wrote about it on my blog here: http://sixgoldencoins.blogspot.com/2008/10/fun-with-kids.html
That is Crazy, yes I think it could be my thing. It sounds soo fun, Pascaline is brave !
Ha i had it done todaaay in London its amazingg! feels like tiny little kisses on your feet and also feels like pins and needles
