Day 16, Ending the Master Cleanse!

Me Ra Koh

Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!  I get to eat food again!  And this is not my main tool everyday, all day.  🙂

Holy smokes friends!  When I started the Master Cleanse over two weeks ago, I was praying I would make it to Day 10.  It was hard to imagine only having lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper with water for TEN DAYS.  Never in a million years did I think I’d go for another seven days!  But if you know anything about the Master Cleanse, you can’t just end one day and go back to eating normal food the next.  It takes a few days to ease back in to eating and get your digestive system prepped to break down food again.

When Brian and I started the cleanse, our tongues were a normal pink.  But as we went along, a white film started to appear on the surface of our tongues.  Burroughs says to expect this as a sign of your body detoxing the yeast in your system.  He also says that you will know when your body is done with the cleanse when your tongue is pink again.  Well, we got to Day 10, and our tongues still had that white film.  I couldn’t help but wonder if I was pulling the weed out of a garden but not really pulling out the roots.  Would a few more days get the roots out too?  It had taken SO MUCH WORK to get to Day 10, why not go a few more days.  Until we realized it would have to be SEVEN more days.

We had our Minneapolis CONFIDENCE Workshop coming up, and if we were going to be off the cleanse we had to stop Day 10 OR do the cleanse through the workshop until we got back home.  I was a little nervous about doing the cleanse and the workshop.  We give everything we’ve got in our CONFIDENCE Workshop and after not eating for 14 days…would we have enough to give?

That’s the crazy thing.  This cleanse has given us MORE energy than we normally have.  We do sleep hard, but during the day we feel completely sustained, still going for walks and to yoga (not Bikram/hot yoga).  The workshop went AWESOME, and it wasn’t so hard squeezing lemons in our hotel room after all. Decreasing smoking and cutting down on alcohol have big impact on premature ejaculation. How to last longer in bed with other tips lastlongerinbedhelp.com. I decided that I try to quit smoking aswell, but if not then I try out vapor products because e-cig is way healthier.

Benefits we have earned through this cleanse;

-By Day 3, Brian stopped snoring!!  Heck yes!!  Can you believe it?!  Goodbye earplugs!

-Brian’s craving for cheese never came up, and in turn he is rethinking his whole diet.

-Clarity of Mind.  All that cobwebby stuff you can feel in your brain, GONE!  Clear as a bell!

-Our faces are bright and healthy looking.

-Brian doesn’t feel sick or under the weather for the first time in a few months.  You know how your cold can evolve into a different cold and another cold and you get sick of being sick, always feeling tired when you wake up…well that changed big time.

-I LOVED the free time during meals.  We would make the kids their food, and then I would go for another walk or spend time writing in my journal, praying, reading.  My heart was looking for some deep answers during this time, and I feel like I got a handful of ideas to move forward with.

-I think we both feel encouraged by the sheer willpower and discipline it took to stick with this cleanse.  We’ve talked a lot about how this is already translating into other areas of our life where we feel have felt vulnerable to giving in whether it’s late night snacks or overeating.  We now feel much more capable of saying “no” to those strong habits, and “yes” to healthier choices.

-Sense of smell and taste is super heightened.  I had OJ yesterday, the first thing after days of lemon juice and maple syrup, and I felt like my taste buds exploded.  I can also smell food from MILES AWAY!  🙂

-Pascaline was inspired to try eating Vegetarian for 10 days and did a GREAT job.

-The cleanse inspired numerous conversations with the kids on healthy eating.

-Not to mention, we simply feel CLEANED OUT!  🙂

Overall, it was amazing to give our systems a reset.  Brian’s never craved veggies that much, and he is SAVORING them this week.  When you go off the cleanse you have to go slow.  The first day is fresh OJ only with the lemon drink.  The second day you get to make a vegetable soup.  The third day you can start to introduce a raw diet, and by the fourth day you can resume normal eating.  Brian has LOVED cheese his whole life, and he hasn’t missed it at all.  It’s like we get to restart and see what our body likes and doesn’t like.

Day Two, Day Seven and Day Ten were the toughest for me.  I had a couple headaches Day Two, I felt frustrated with the whole thing on Day 7 and especially Day 10…maybe it’s because I thought I was almost done but still had a white film on my tongue.  Day 11 to 17 were much easier.  I think your body gets used to the routine and can just keep going, but I still couldn’t sit down for dinner with the kids.  Cooking their meals was hard enough!  🙂

The best part, no more warm, 32 oz. Salt Cleanses in the morning!  PRAISE GOD!

Ready for you Spring!

I laughed out loud when I read that the master cleanse stopped Brian’s snoring…and that it was your first observation you listed! Also…I have to ask…did you lose any weight? Glad you both are feeling great!

  5. I gave up cheese after my daughter was born 7 months ago. Holy cow, do I miss it! But then again, I can go DAYS without thinking about missing cheese on my TexMex (we eat that a lot here in San Antonio, y’know)…and all those days I’m NOT eating it and NOT thinking about it means a healthier heart and a smaller jean size. <3

  6. Good for you!!! I like the Master’s cleanse! I continued my cleansing using a high therapeutic grade essential oil of lemon…. Thankful for my green smoothies too!!!

Kelli, do you have any ideas for breakfast with eating RAW? I would LOVE whatever you’ve got! I have a couple great RAW cookbooks, but always looking for more ideas!

  9. Kelli says:

    Yes! I do … I will send 🙂

  10. I just shared this with the girls in the office and I think we’re going to try it in June…Thanks for sharing. I do wish there was a substitute for maple though lol

  11. Genie says:

Congrats to you both! Braving the end of winter AND Minneapolis showed your commitment to your deepest pleasure – good health. I’m so glad you’re no seeing it as just a weight loss program which is the mistake a lot of people make. Okay, my suggestion for getting a bit of cheesy-ness: NUTRITIONAL YEAST! Lots of B12, it goes on my salads, soups, more. Try using it in a pesto – substitute it for parmesan or any cheese. I’ll post a great Brazil Cilantro Pesto recipe on FB. Yum!!

And, not to forget, chia seed pudding for the morning – again on FB. I’m raising a glass of vegetable juice to you both!

  12. Kerry says:

    Congratulations. I”m inspired.
