Sneak Peak: Election Photo Shoot of Kids & SONY Photo Contest

Me Ra Koh

Remember the SONY Photo Challenge/Contest I mentioned a couple weeks ago? It’s a contest around capturing the theme of the upcoming election.  You can be as exact or “out of the box” as you want.

Well, we asked the kids what ideas come to mind for them.  As they brainstormed, we wrote all their ideas down.  Then we narrowed the ideas down to our favorites, and Pascaline started calling costume stores.  I wasn’t sure if they were going to be in to this shoot, but they took it and RAN!  Their ideas were awesome!  Here is a sneak peak from what came out of their creative process!  But I’m saving my favorites for the 4th of July!

Isn’t that photo the cutest thing ever!  You should have heard them talking–totally in character!  The General (Blaze) is running for president and trying to persuade the couple to vote for him.  Pascaline (the “gentleman”) has numerous questions though regarding his competency–of course! :).

One more! (and then you have to wait until the 4th of July for the rest!

I’ve noticed that it’s easy to slow down in taking photos of your kids as they get older.  When the kids were little, I was taking endless photos of every developmental milestone.  But to my delight, older kids still LOVE to play, create, and get into character.  The kids blew me away on this photo shoot.  Most of the photos were ideas they generated.  We played for hours!  And even when it was time to wrap it up (because the sun had set and it was DARK!), they still wanted to keep going.

So inspiring … as usual. Love how creative your kids are. But I guess they get that honest 🙂

  2. These are so lovely! What a blast. We saw a shoot that some folks did where they dressed their toddler up as Link from The Legend of Zelda games. We are planning on doing that when our toddler gets a little older. I have a feeling it is going to be tons of fun!
