First Year: Capturing 8 Month Baby Milestones

Jennifer Tacbas

Jen here with another First Year post!

Logan turned 8 months old at the beginning of September, and Jason and I are unbelievably smitten with her at this age! It is so fun watching her become more and more independent, discovering new things right before our eyes.  At the same time, she is quick to take a break from being on her own and wanting to reconnect with us and cuddle closer than ever before.  I don’t think I’ve ever felt so much love in all my lifetime as I do when I’m just hanging out with my husband and our little girl.  I wish I could bottle up this incredible feeling I have and share it with all of you, but chances are, if you’re a parent, you know already know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

8-months-4

All the 8 month baby milestones are blowing me away!  Logan is growing faster than I can sometimes keep up with.  It has been a whirlwind of “firsts” over here!  From eating habits to mobility, much has changed since my last post about Logan’s current milestones, and I am excited to share with you images documenting some of the newest happenings.

More Pearly Whites

At around 6 months old, Logan’s bottom middle teeth finally made their appearance after two months of teething.  Shortly thereafter, her top middle teeth began their decent.  At one point, I was feeling sad about forever losing her adorable gummy smile to one filled with teeth, but when she smiles at me these days with her four pearly whites, I just can’t help but smile back!

Helping Herself to a Snack

A few weeks ago, I found a great organic puff cereal snack for teaching Logan how to feed herself.  At first, it was so sweet watching her chase around one little puff with her fingers, trying to figure out how the heck to grab it off her high chair’s tray.  Once she grabbed it, she didn’t know what to do with it.  Was she supposed to squeeze it or shake it like a rattle?  With a little guidance, she finally put it in her mouth, and her eyes widened at the feeling of a new textured food.  A few days later, she was a pro at feeding herself a mid-morning snack.  We’re testing out some baby cookies this week.  Whew, boy…they’re A LOT messier than her puffs!

On the Cusp of Crawling

Probably the biggest change is how mobile Logan has become.  She loves sitting, twisting around, reaching forward, bending all the way backwards, going up on her knees to grab a toy, and changing her direction on the floor while on her belly.  This kid is all over the place!  She has the most fun showing off her push-ups.  A few weeks ago, we began doing push-ups together, side-by-side, and she thinks it’s the greatest thing.  She’s also great pushing up and sliding herself backwards.  A few times this week, she’s shown a few signs of getting ready to crawl, especially when she rocks back and forth on her knees.   I am so excited to watch her put all the pieces of the puzzle together and learn to crawl!  At the same time, I’m fully aware that my life is about to get a lot more difficult!

8-months-3

Do you have a little one about the same age as Logan, or is your baby all grown?  What new things or baby milestones are / were your little ones doing around the 8 month mark?  Leave me a comment below and brag away or reminisce.  I can’t wait to hear all about your kids!

Meet me here next Monday for a peek at Logan showing off her athletic skills in our garage gym!

First Year Cheers!
