Connections…

This week we learned from the Artists Way about how reconnecting with ourselves can restore our inner artists to a place where we are able to not only listen, but act upon what we are being urged to pour out artistically. She gave us a mantra to help us build ourselves up by cherishing ourselves in order to restore inner strength. While many of us are adept at slinging diapers and cameras while juggling books, homework, housework, and significant others we can unwittingly loose sight of the requirement to pamper ourselves as well. This video is a brief exploration into some mini pampering moments that I now do regularly with my pretty little Sony A33 close by. I believe it is benefiting me in more ways than I realized. While my technical skills can be improve with practice, creative vision needs room to grow and be inspired from.
What ways have you incorporated taking care of your inner artists on a regular basis. I would love to know. Please visit us on the Soarority forum to share.

that was FABULOUS!!!! so perfect.
it seems we’re all craving restoration this time of year – the common thread that we’re all hanging by sometimes. i’ve found that when i put the camera down for a few days and go play, i come back to it with open arms. thanks, charisse!
I’ve learned the hard way that I must take care of me first. I have a few ways of doing that. One, every other month I go to this upscale salon in the lower desert to get my hair cut and styled. They pamper me in their shampoo room with aromatherapy and scalp massages. And then offer me Complimentary Services such as mini manicures or 15 minute back massages. It’s wonderful to have someone else pamper me for an hour or so. This goes a long way to helping me feel recharged.
Artistically, I like to stumble online through random photographs. I have found many artists out there that inspire me to take a chance and try something different and see the world in a different way.
And I have to say Charisse, I loved your video. Mastr K may have found his future career. perhaps some Fusion for your photography business.

wonderful post Charisse! If we aren’t filled up, taking care of ourselves, we don’t have much to give. Love that you showed us a number of ideas. I always need reminders or new inspiration of ideas.

I agree – it’s easy to multi-task and juggle so many things for others, that we often forget ourselves. I recently re-evaluated my whole life. I’m definitely taking time out of me nowadays. My favorite non-photography way to unwind is to cook! (And…er…eat!) And when I’m not cooking, I’m sitting on the couch watching the Cooking Channel or Food Network for inspiration. Food certainly does wonders to “feed” the soul. And my fiance loves that he benefits from my downtime, too.
