Photo Shoots

Two Posts Today!! First, Meet Megan, Greer’s Mom! She is BUSTED!!!

Me Ra Koh

You have never met anyone like Megan! I guarantee it! She is the WILDEST and FUNNIEST gal I’ve ever met–not to mention mother of the groom! Actually let me take that back. She is the WILDEST woman I’ve ever met. PERIOD!! This is totally her!!

So I have to tell you that she is BUSTED!!! 🙂 And we’ve got to post it on the blog! Megan has got to be one our biggest cheerleaders in hiding, checking this blog daily, rarely ever posting, but knows every blog I’ve ever posted that I’m truly blown away when we talk at the wedding. I’m telling you, I love this woman. But here is the icing on the cake.

After I posted the photos and slideshow from Greer and Britt’s wedding, Shannon (Britt’s sister) forwards this email Megan had sent out the day before! You’ve got to check this out!! 🙂

Megan should be a writer!!!

Here is the sadness of my Monday…well for one it’s MONDAY! Then I power up the old Dell and surprise…no pictures, no music…just another workshop of genius photographers, full of creativity, making me ill with their smart pictures full of beauty! So with that I went off to the Buck to get myself a fat free, skim, no whip Pumpkin Spice latte. I went with the skim and no whip b/c their were no pictures to view and I didn’t want to overindulge myself and be fully glutenous with out the pleasure of the pix. I then though about how many more worthless things I was going to have to fill my day googling because there were no pictures of the breathtakingly stunning bride who is now my daughter in law and her oh too handsome groom that is now her husband at their wedding on Kimmer Ranch on that beautiful Labor Day

weekend. As my cup drains of it’s frothy, pumpkiny mirth….I google

yet another meaningless thing to occupy the time until the pictures are posted……well some things I google are not meaningless okay…some things are legit, so legit that I just can’t quit…..yeah 2legit, 2legit to quit that’s a song!

I, of course, would never know she was feeling this way by the comment she posted the very next day after seeing the photos and slideshow!

HOLY COW…are you kidding me!!! That stunningly beautiful bride is now our daughter in law. Britt is seriously beautiful inside and out! That groom, hmm..well he OBVIOUSLY is the newest member of Me Ra Koh Photography’s Boy Band! Brian grab the bags and climb up that mountain and get that shot will ya!! ha Forget the Kleenex, I was blubbering into the sleeve of my jammies! You 2 without a doubt are the best camera wielding pirates in all the land! The bounty of memories and moments you captured on that special day will never be forgotten! Thank you for sharing your gift with our family and friends and thank you for being the funny, talented, generous people you are. Also for being the kind I like to creep up on their blog and stalk…haha!! Someday I hope to take a picture of you all…that will rock your world!!! I can dream can’t I….
Love from all the Cowboys and Cowgirls and wannabees like me! xoxo, Megan & Tim

Megan, you are so busted!! 🙂 I’m dying to share the photo of you on the dance floor, but I’ll hold on to it for future busts on you (as I hope there are more! :))

love you, love you, love you to pieces Megan!! Now post a comment lady b/c I know you’re out there somewhere!! 🙂

#2 post is coming in the next couple hours. Gina, our Associate Portrait photographer, is going to offer a crazy Christmas/family portrait special for two upcoming Saturdays. I’ll post the details soon. But she’s doing it for $250 which is crazy, especially when you see what she’s giving you with it. Sooooooo, if you still need a handful of great family photos, check back on the blog later today for Gina’s Christmas Special!!

FYI, if this peaks your interest, here is a recent slideshow she did for clients. This baby is so cute! Enjoy!!

Me Rah…you are one of those people who people fall in love with you the instant they meet you…or perhaps even before meeting…you are a kind and generous person! You rock!

  2. Emily says:

Megan sounds like the kind of person that I would like to meet in real life. Her writing is hilarious – she should have a blog.

    Thanks for sharing

  3. Heidi Jones says:

I just watched Gina’s slideshow and please tell her she did an amazing job! I love how relaxed the toddler looks and the whole family for that matter. Thanks for all the inspiring slideshows!

Oh man, now I’m going to have to set up an offshore email account so I have an alias to use when I post here!!! I have been busted?!! To all of you people that go to Me Ra’s workshops, attend her speaking engagements, do that PUG thing and can wield a camera with the best of them, let me say how extremely jealous I am of all you talented people. I have been creeping around on your sites too, looking at your photos, reading your inspiring stories etc. But Me Ra made me do it! After we met her and Brian last year at Shannon & Rob’s wedding, I was so overwhelmed by the “work” they did, that I was speechless and that takes a LOT!!! So I started checking in on here, and she tells me I must check out this, that or the other thing and I DO!!! I look on here and skim through the technical stuff and look at the people behind it, read the stories and just relish the cool things you can bring to us through pictures.
Imagine my excitement when I found out that Me Ra & Brian would be shooting Britt & Greer’s wedding! Oh sure the engagement and planning was great (te he)…but to see those 2 again and witness their craft, was true deliciousness. I knew I was in trouble when she came up with that “boy band” photo and gave us a preview! Tearjerker ranch people! It’s totally different when you are, as they say…on the other side of the camera! So I’m busted. I’m sure Me Ra has the goods on me, or wait could it be that sly, sneaky and total hysterical Brian? did he catch me in an inappropriate moment? Beware people, you never know when you might be creeping around on someone and the tables get turned and you end up on that old famous “Candid Camera”! One more confession…I own a Nikon D80 (is that an SLR?), and 3 lenses (small, big and jumbo)…I am studying the manual like it’s my job, going over and through each option on it’s totally smooth and taut body! I am no closer to understanding it than I was Algebra freshman year of high school…but when I finally am empowered enough by you people and Me Ra, you might see me at some workshop, if she’ll have me..I mean with my Nikon and all..I don’t want her to shun me! I love people and their stories..I cannot help it, it’s who I am. sign me, wannabee p.s. I need some skills so that I can capture my grandchildren someday…between Shan, Jim and I we should have plenty of documentation of Ruby and the ones to come….

Well, from your post I now know why I don’t see my pal Megan as much anymore…she ditched Caribou for that corporate giant only dwarfed by Wal-Mart. But the real reason I’m writing it to tell you that the wedding slideshow shared by Greer and Megan this week is probably the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I hope when the time comes you will be my daughter’s wedding photographer (as she’s but 10, don’t need to book a date yet…maybe next year). Anyway, just wanted you to know. And w have similar tastes in friends. Megan is a riot and a wonderful friend. I so wish I could have been at the wedding and look forward to seeing the newlyweds at their next trip to the ‘vlle, IL.

  6. Me Ra says:

Megan, I think we would all agree that you have single handedly won ALL our hearts and need to start your own blog!!! I would totally read a “Megan blog” every morning!! What wild things would Megan come up with to blog about? Oooh, I just get the chills thinking about it!! 🙂

And OMG, don’t even tease me, you at a workshop with us…pinch me!!! I must be dreaming!! Look out ladies, she would make it a workshop we’d never forget!! And no worries about the whole Nikon thing. Pasaline actually shoots with the Nikon D40. She thinks mom and dad should switch. 🙂 But forget the manuel!! Order our DVD girl, and save the stress of understanding the manuel! 🙂

Barry, definitly call us in ten or so years!! How fun! Thanks so much for your post and kind comments!!

  7. Wendy says:

I would list my blog, but after keeping up with you two, Megan and Me Ra I would feel completely inadequate. Ditto to many of the comments Megan made about reading your blog everyday, looking at so many other photographers links-linked to Me Ra’s blog, being inspired to lift my D80 and try something new. I first learned about you and your blog through someone I met here in DC. Her name is Christina Gacharna. We have a mutual friend whose little girl is battling Luekemia. Ever since-8 months ago, I have been trying to keep up with your interesting life and trying to keep my dreams alive until I settle down enough (married to the Air Force) to allow me to build a business. I emailed you-Me Ra, this week so I could get on the Wait List for 2008 for the Beginner and Advanced workshops. You will find the details in my email, but I also want to apologize for emailing again today when I hadn’t heard back yet. Obviously you are a little busy this week—I just read your blog and read about your “Mind-Blowing” opportunities that are arising for you as I type. I am sure that left you without 5-minutes peace this week-so I feel like scum about the second email today. I can’t wait to hear about the exciting news from New York and I certainly hope to meet you someday. You’ve got a gift Girl!

  8. Jen MacNiven says:

Can I ditto a ditto? Is that allowed?! Me Ra has totally got me hooked on photography (not that I wasn’t already) but now I’ve got an OCD. I eat, sleep, drink, and dream of it. Her beginner’s course is wonderful, I learned so much and even though I’ve heard the ‘technical stuff’ before Me Ra made ‘sense’ of the jargon. Seriously Megan, put the book down! It will only hurt your brain, and BTW, you are hilarious!…I’d read a Megan Blog everyday too! And if you take the beginner’s workshop, can I ‘retake it’…it would be so fun?!
I feel so blessed just to have gotten to know someone whose career is taking off like a rocket. I aspire to be half of what Me Ra and Brian have become. Kudos to you both and good luck in NYC!

  9. Susan D says:

    Ditto Part Deux…

Megan, I also would read your blog…you are a hoot! Also, I am in the same photography boat…I am reading the manual for my new canon and I just do.not.get.it. I can read and read about f-stop this and shutter speed that, and the numbers…well, frankly, they sorta freak me out. I am so much more worried about capturing the moment and getting a decent composition…so I just set it on AUTOMATIC and let the camera do its job. But I know I could have much better photos…if only I knew what they were talking about. I need a trick of some sort.

The only way I could play music was to figure out what note it was (Every Good Boy Does Fine and FACE)and write it on the sheet music…then I could play, but it never became instictive.

I think the creative side of my brain has taken over my logical side.

Me Rah…please help us technically challenged galz!
